Inequalities
Not all things are equal in math...
We got four symbols here:
- < Less Than
- > Greater Than
- ≤ Less Than or Equal To
- ≥ Greater Than or Equal To
What does it all mean? Perhaps some examples will help...
- 3 < 8
- 8 ≤ 8
- 100000 > 1
- 100000 ≥ 1
So what does this mean in algebra?
If you multiply or divide a negative number to both sides of an inequality, flip the sign.
< flips to >, ≥ flips to ≤
